IRA Bingo packed the Mt. Mansfield room with hundreds of students, each hoping to win one of the few worthy prizes the Inter Residence Association had put up.  The prizes, worth about $5,000 combined, ranged from 5 lb weights to a snowboard, iPad, and more.

Rules at the event were strange and strict.  If you ran up to claim your prize, you forfeited it. If there was a Bingo tie, both players wouldn’t win: students rock-paper-scissored to see who won.  Shirts were distributed to students who yelled the most.  You had to call bingo on the turn you won; if you realized that you had won later, you forfeited your prize.  The event lasted two hours, with 250 students looking forward to maybe winning 7 prizes.  Newly elected IRA President Joseph Oteng read the numbers for the game.
